“There have been quite a number of new things to deal with here and still come up with a great place that will have a mix of uses, social gathering places, and provide people with the daily services that they need,” says Kadlub. “And rounding out what we have dubbed a ‘complete community.' IT TAKES A VILLAGE: The housing styles at Villebois reflect the established architecture of many of Northwest Oregon's older, pre–World War II neighborhoods. A pattern book defines the design guidelines, which reflect a variety of architectural styles.

INTIMATE DETAILS: Lots are modest in scale at Villebois, but small gardens and other distinctive touches make up for the lack of large yards.

OPEN AND AIRY: While exteriors at Villebois reflect a European village, inside, the floor plans are thoroughly modern, with plenty of open space and volume.

WATER CONSERVATION: Villebois' street grid system was designed so that it follows the sheet flow of water.
